HAKS is heading the joint venture providing preliminary and final design of 2 miles of Bloomingdale Road from Arthur Kill to Amboy Roads for the New York City Department of Design and Construction. Reconstruction is estimated to cost $30 million. The major 2-lane arterial with connections to the West Shore Expressway is within the Sandy Ground Historic Archaeological District.
Preliminary design will involve project development and identification; design, inventory and traffic surveys; pavement, geometric alignment and Best Management Practice (BMP) drainage design. Final design tasks are to include street, planting, landscape/urban design; sewers, water mains, lighting, traffic signals; construction staging, maintenance and protection of traffic; BMP CP-3 design; specifications, quantities construction cost estimate; community outreach and bid analysis.
