Construction Management As Needed, Reconstruction of Park Facilities

Construction Cost: $33,657,000

HAKS provided construction management services as-needed for projects designed by NYCDPR and various consultants for parks throughout the city, under a contract with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. Projects included new construction and reconstruction, with a wide range of work items such as site work, play equipment, utilities, sports areas, comfort stations/structures, and major landscaping. The latter involved earthwork, topsoil removal and installation, irrigation systems, sediment control, tree removal, clearing and grubbing, planting and transplanting vegetation, pavers, stone work, ornamental iron work, seed and sod installations.

Specific task orders included:

  • Reconstruction of irrigation systems and related work at Pelham Bay, Split Rock, and Van Cortlandt Park Golf Courses, Bronx, NY. Cost $12 million
  • La Tourette, Silver Lake and South Shore Golf Courses, Staten Island, NY.  Cost $6.1 million
  • Community Rock Garden Park located at Longfellow Avenue between East 173rd & 174th Streets, Bronx, NY.  Cost $1 million
  • Reconstruction of Nathan Weidenbaum Park, located south of the Brooklyn-Queens Expwy., between 63rd St. and 64th St.,Queens, NY.  Cost $1 million
  • Construction of Verona Play Ground, located on Wyona and Vermont Streets between Jamaica Ave. and Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY. Cost: $975,000
  • Reconstruction of Brooklyn Heights Promenade located between Remsen Street and Clark Street, Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $947,000
  • Bathgate Park at East 181st Street between Washington Avenue & Bathgate Avenue, Bronx, NY.  Cost $850,000
  • Reconstruction of I.S. 111 (FERMI) Playground bounded by Troutman St., Central Ave. and Starr St., Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $770,000
  • Reconstruction of P.S. 209 (Willets Point) Playground located at 166thSt. between 16th Ave. & 16th Rd., Queens, NY. Cost $750,000
  • Reconstruction of Betty K. Rappaport Playground located at Fort Hamilton Pkwy., between 52nd and 53rd Streets, Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $700,000
  • Jackie Robinson Park located at Bradhurst Avenue between West 148th & West 150th Streets, Manhattan, NY.  Cost $585,000
  • Bandshell and Sandscape at Ocean Parkway and Seabreeze Ave. in Asser Levy Park, Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $580,000
  • Reconstruction of JHS 194 (Clintonville) Playground located on Clintonville St. between 17th Ave. & 17th Rd., Queens, NY. Cost $576,000
  • Reconstruction of the Paths and Ballfields 1, 2 and 3 located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Bruckner Blvd. and Middletown Road, in Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, NY.  Cost $526,000
  • Bath Beach Park Bounded by Bay 16th St. at 17th Court and Shore Parkway, Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $475,000
  • Reconstruction of the playground and dog run at Dimattina Park, bounded by Hamilton Ave., Hicks, Woodhull, and Henry Streets, Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $473,000
  • Strawberry Playground South 3rd St. between Berry St. & Bedford Ave., Brooklyn, NY.  Cost $450,000
  • Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Crawford Athletic Field at Avenue U between East 58th & East 60th Streets, Brooklyn, NY. Cost $445,000
  • Parque De Los Ninos Playground at Morrision Avenue, Watson Avenue & Bronx River Parkway, Bronx, NY.  Cost $400,000

  • Reconstruction of Eastern Parkway and South Pacific Playground, west of Howard Avenue between Pacific and Dean Streets, Brooklyn. Cost $500,000
