Project Management Services for Public Schools, Grades K-12, Region 5
Owner: New Jersey School Construction Corporation
Location: Warren, Hunterdon, Morris Counties, NJ
Construction Cost: $150 million
HAKS is participating in providing regional project management services to oversee design and construction in a variety of elementary, middle, and high schools in suburban/rural areas of New Jersey.
New Jersey has embarked on an $8.6 billion program to finance, design, and construct schools across the state in an effort to upgrade educational opportunities. It is the nation's single largest school construction program. A state agency, the New Jersey School Construction Corporation, is charged with implementing this program. To do so, they itinitially divided New Jersey into 11 "regions" for administrative purposes. Within each region the NJSCC engaged a Regional Project Management Firm (PMF) to provide project and construction management services, oversight, direction, and coordination.
The PMF is responsible for quality, technical accuracy and timely completion of deliverables, ranging from design to actual construction. However, because the PMF acts as the NJSCC's representative it does not perform actual design or construction. HAKS is participating as a member of the regional PMF team in ''Region 5''. This region encompasses portions of Warren, Hunterdon, and Morris counties. It is comprised of older towns, burgeoning new suburban communities, and agricultural areas. The largest town is Phillipsburg.
