Resident Engineering Inspection Services for Reconstruction of Marble Hill Area

Owner: NYC Department of Design and Construction
Location: The Bronx, NY
Construction Cost: $4.5 Million

HAKS provided resident Engineering Inspection Services for the reconstruction project that included inspection of combined sewer and water main replacements.

The scope of work included replacing about 720 feet of combined sewer, reconstructing (lining) 3,000 feet of existing combined sewer, and replacing about 1,500 feet of 12-inch DIP water main. In addition, water service lines were transferred and replaced , and new fire hydrants were installed.

Services are being provided for the installation of new curbs, sidewalks, catch basins, and other drainage improvements. New roadway pavement with an 8" thick concrete base capped with a 3" asphalt concrete wearing course is also being installed in the project area.

The project featured tree mitigation with several special care pay items that included pruning and tree removals. HAKS provided additional services for these items along with sidewalk details that allowed for the protection of existing tree root systems during new sidewalk and curb installation. During construction, the community requested that the bluestone sidewalk that existed within the project area be maintained. HAKS worked diligently with the NYCDDC to ensure that this was done to the satisfaction of the community.
